Nickel, Rust and Deadwood: Sudbury
Though many locations are of interior spaces and exploring the lives of individuals who worked, worship, lived and learned in those spaces, the series of images from Sudbury, Ontario document the effects of nickel mining on the environment. What appears to be an idealised landscape, or one altered in post-production they are not. The effects on the environment are dramatic. The stand of dead birch trees or the nickel tailing shows the damage that our industry has taken. Think too about the adverse effect on the human body as well.
